Foley Public Library's Children's Department
Statement of Parental Responsibility
The Foley Public Library supports parents and guardians in their efforts to guide their own children's reading, viewing and listening. Our library provides access to books, video cassettes, CDs, DVDs and other material. Foley Library also provides several interesting links to recommended web sites via the Foley Library Web Page, www.foleylibrary.org.
The mission of the library is to provide free, open and equal access to ideas and information to all members of the community. Children may borrow or use any material, resources or services in the library. It is the responsibility of parents and guardians to monitor their child's use of library resources and to determine whether to place restrictions on their own children. We do have computer lab policies that all are asked to respect.
While children may have their own cards, parents are responsible for the material their children check out. Parents and guardians are responsible for this child's behavior, safety, and welfare while in the library. Library employees are unable to assume responsibility for unattended children. Therefore, children under the age of 12 MUST be accompanied by an adult/guardian while in the library. This means the adult/guardian must be in the nearby vicinity of the child. An adult/guardian must be 16 years of age or older when accompanying a child at the library.
This policy is for the protection of the children who come to the Foley Public Library.
