Why Librarians Hate Genealogy!
July 11, 2009 10:00 AM
Jeanette Bornholt, genealogist by hobby and librarian by employment, will give a light-hearted presentation of “Why Librarians Hate Genealogy” for July 11th program of the Baldwin County Genealogical Society’s meeting. The humorous look at why librarians tend to shiver with dread seeing a family history researcher walk in the door of a library will begin at 10 a.m. in the Meeting Room of the Foley Public Library. The meeting is open to the interested public.
Bornholt has been doing family research for nearly forty years and has been a librarian with the Foley Public Library nearly twenty. Her past years’ responsibilities have been centered on the Alabama, Local History and Genealogy Collections of the Library, the County’s largest, which receives world wide requests and bequests. Genealogy is ranked as one of the top ‘hobbies’ internationally, but has other far reaching benefits which Bornholt will present in her program. She credits farsighted directors with Foley Public Library with the phenomenal growth of the Library’s Genealogy collections which includes public access to Ancestry.Com and HeritageQuest online.
The Foley Public Library is located at 319 East Laurel Ave, Foley, Alabama.
The Baldwin County Genealogical Society is a non-profit organization, major supporter of the Alabama, Local History & Genealogy Collections in the Foley Public Library. Meetings are open to interested public.
