Chess Tournament

10:00-2:00PM

Assemble your knights and rally your kings because Foley Gaming Con has a chess tournament waiting just for you! Hosted by Laura Morin, the tournament will begin at 10 o’clock sharp on the day of the con, so you’ll want to go ahead and register online for a guaranteed spot.

.

There will be a brief window for walk-in registrations from 9:45AM-10:00AM in the lobby on the day of the con.

.

Trophies will be awarded to winners of the tournament!

.

General Guidelines:

  1. Please review game and etiquette rules.

  2. In order to win, you must play in all five rounds of the tournament as you will receive “ranking points” depending on your wins in each round. Note that between rounds, you’re welcome to wander around the con—you just have to make it back to the chess area at your appointed times to play!

  3. The tournament is inclusive for all levels of players, whether you’re a beginner, novice, or an expert. However, you must be at least six-years old in order to register.

Cosplay Contest

10:30-11:30AM

We are thrilled to host a cosplay contest at Foley Gaming Con, with special guest judges Robin File and Sarah Peters! Judging will take place backstage in the Main Room of the Civic Center, and winners will be announced at 11:30AM before the Fashion Walk begins.

.

The categories of the contest are as follows.

.

Adults (Ages 18 and up):

  • Handmade: The costume was mostly—if not entirely—constructed by yourself using crafting, sewing, and other DIY techniques.

  • Store-bought/Purchased: The costume was mostly—if not entirely—purchased from a secondary party, such as a retailer or online store.

.

Children (Ages 5-17):

  • Handmade: The costume was mostly—if not entirely—constructed by yourself using crafting, sewing, and other DIY techniques. (Outside assistance from parents and guardians is absolutely allowed in the handmade children’s category.)

  • Store-bought/Purchased: The costume was mostly—if not entirely—purchased from a secondary party, such as a retailer or online store.

Additional Guidelines:

  • All costumes and props must adhere to the Cosplay Rules of Foley Gaming Con. Review those carefully as you’re preparing your costume—inappropriate attire, gestures, or language will not be allowed onstage.

  • Please have a reference photo of the character you’re cosplaying ready for the judges! You can either attach it in the online registration form that is linked below, or bring a physical/digital copy to the con on the day of the event.

You can go ahead and register for your category online now using the form below, or you can sign up in the lobby on the day of the con from 9:45AM-10:30AM.

.

Prizes will be awarded for winners of the contest! There are 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place trophies for each of the four categories.

Dungeons & Dragons

Adventurers! Join a party, battle ferocious foes, and traverse distant lands at our Dungeons and Dragons (D&D) section in the Civic Center, where our experienced Dungeon Masters (DMs)—led by the always wonderful Bryan Eslava—await you.

.

There will be three sessions throughout the convention:

.

  • Session 1 (10:00AM-10:50AM)

  • Session 2 (12:00PM-12:50PM)

  • Session 3 (1:00-1:50PM)

.

Each session will feature a different one-shot campaign that can be completed within an hour, so you don’t have to be present at every session! We also have multiple DMs in every session who will be running the same campaign as the other DMs for that hour.

.

Space is limited, so be sure to sign up for which sessions you would like to attend by following this link. Walk-in registrations on September 13th will be allowed; however, availability on the day-of is not guaranteed.

.

No experience with D&D is required to participate in any of these sessions, and all materials for playing will be provided. You can come with a character you've already made or play with a pre-made character that we'll happily supply. Our experienced Dungeon Masters are happy to welcome any and all players to their tables, whether you're a seasoned adventurer or a novice making your first foray into the magical world of D&D.

.

You must be at least ten years old or older to register for a D&D session. You are only allowed to pre-register for one session online. However, if you would like to attend multiple sessions, you're more than welcome to check with the staff member who is stationed at D&D to see if there is walk-in availability for other sessions!
